Northern Gas Networks (NGN), the gas distributor for the North of England, is carrying out essential work to ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in Shipley, Bradford.

The project will see ageing metal gas pipes replaced with new, more durable plastic pipes, helping to reduce the risk of future repairs and keep gas flowing safely and reliably to homes and businesses in the local area.

Work Details

The work is planned to start Monday 28 September and is expected to last for 10 weeks. This project has been planned in collaboration with Bradford Council.

So that engineers can carry out the work safely and efficiently, and to protect the public, some traffic management measures will be put in place.

The first phase of traffic management will include a junction closure on Caroline Street, with three-way lights in place on Albert Road and Dallam Avenue.

The project will then move to a rolling road closure along Caroline Street, carried out in sections to make sure local residents continue to have at least one route in and out at all times.

During this phase, diversion routes will be available via Albert Road and Victoria Road. The most suitable route will depend on where the closure is in place, so drivers are asked to follow the signed diversions to reach their destination.

Chris Green, Business Operations Lead for Northern Gas Networks, said: “We understand that work of this nature can be disruptive, and we’re sorry for the inconvenience this may cause residents, businesses and road users while it is taking place. These essential works are needed to help us continue maintaining a safe and reliable gas supply for people in Shipley.

“We’ll do everything we can to minimise disruption and complete the scheme as safely and as quickly as possible. We’d like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding while we carry out this important upgrade.”
