Your gas bill
Everything you need to understand the part of your bill that pays for distribution costs and how our regulator sets network charges.
What you pay for
The energy regulator, Ofgem, oversees and approves the prices that Northern Gas Networks can charge gas shippers to move gas through our pipes on behalf of the gas suppliers – the companies that customers buy energy from.
This money goes toward making sure our pipes are safe and reliable, delivering our 24/7 emergency response service and preparing our network for the future to continue to keep homes and businesses warm and industry powered up.
How much do you pay today
Today, our customers pay an average of £199 a year (less than £17 a month) for the services they receive. By investing our profits to make our business run more smoothly, we ensure that we keep prices to a minimum without compromising our high levels of service.
What's included for less than £17 a month
Keeping costs down
Big infrastructure projects cost a lot upfront and deliver benefits over many years. Investor funding allows NGN to spread costs over time, rather than passing them straight onto customer bills. This helps keep energy costs more stable and affordable.
