Hull City Council and Northern Gas Networks (NGN) have joined forces to coordinate essential works in Hull, helping to minimise disruption for residents, businesses and road users.
The project will see Northern Gas Networks, which delivers gas to 2.9 million homes and businesses across the North of England, install a new gas connection to the former East Riding Hotel pub at the junction of Bridlington Avenue and Cannon Street, Hull.
To reduce the impact of multiple roadworks in the area, Hull City Council will carry out its planned road resurfacing programme immediately after the gas connection works are completed. By combining the schemes, both projects will be delivered within a two-week period, avoiding separate disruption phases.
The works are scheduled to begin on Monday 21 September and are expected to be completed by Friday 2 October, subject to weather conditions.
Planned Works Schedule
Phase 1: Monday 21 September to Sunday 27 September Northern Gas Networks will install a new gas connection at the former East Riding Hotel site. A road closure will be in place at the junction of Bridlington Avenue and Cannon Street.
Phase 2: Monday 28 September to Friday 2 October Hull City Council will carry out essential road resurfacing works. The road closure will remain in place on Bridlington Avenue and its junction with Cannon Street while resurfacing is completed.
Advance warning signs and fully signed diversion routes will be in place throughout the works.
Maintaining Access During the Works
Access for residents will be maintained wherever possible, bin collections will continue as normal, and emergency vehicle access will be facilitated throughout the project.
Residents and businesses in the area will receive further information by letter, including contact details for any enquiries.
The resurfacing scheme forms part of Hull City Council’s ongoing highway maintenance programme, which aims to improve road conditions, enhance safety and support reliable transport infrastructure across Hull while ensuring the continuity of essential gas services.
