We will be carrying out essential work to ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers and businesses on Ord Road and Ord Drive, Berwick-upon-Tweed.
The project involves replacing underground metal gas pipes with modern plastic equivalents as part of an ongoing investment programme to upgrade the region’s infrastructure.
What’s happening?
Work will start on Tuesday 26th May 2026 and is expected to take approximately 12 weeks to complete.
To allow engineers to carry out the work safely and efficiently, traffic management measures will be put in place.
Temporary traffic lights will be installed on Ord Road from Tuesday 26th May.
In addition, a road closure will be in place at the junction of West End Road and Ord Drive for seven weeks from Monday 22nd June.
Dan Hind, Operations Lead at Northern Gas Networks, said: “We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused during these essential works. However, it is vital that we complete them to maintain a safe and reliable gas supply for residents and businesses in Berwick-upon-Tweed.
“Shops and businesses in the area will remain open as usual, and we’ll be working hard to complete this project as quickly as possible.”
