Northern Gas Networks (NGN), the gas distributor for the North of England, is on site responding to a gas escape in Guiseley.

Yesterday evening at around 11.30pm (Wednesday 3 December), emergency engineers responded to a smell of gas which appeared to be coming from properties close to the A65, opposite Yorkshire Dental Suite in Guiseley.

Engineers have located the leak which is in a pipe underneath the A65. So that engineers can carry out the work safely and efficiently, and to protect the public, some temporary traffic management measures have been put in place.

One of the two westbound lanes of the A65 has been closed and a contraflow is in operation, with all traffic using the remaining westbound lane.

The gas supply to homes and businesses in the area is unaffected.

Dale Hemingway, Site Manager at Northern Gas Networks, said: “We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused during these essential repairs, which we appreciate are likely to lead to journeys in the area taking longer than normal. We’ll provide a completion date for the repairs as soon as we can.”
