Engineers from Northern Gas Networks (NGN), the gas distributor for the North of England, are carrying out repair work on a gas pipe under Cromwell Street in Gateshead.
So that engineers can carry out the work safely and efficiently some temporary traffic management measures have been put in place.
From Thursday 23 January, a small section of Cromwell Street in the Deckham area of Gateshead has been closed. Access to Cromwell Street is still possible via Ellison Villas and Burney Villas.
Andy Coates, Site Manager at Northern Gas Networks, said: “Our engineers are carrying out essential repair work have had to close part of Cromwell Street.
“We are working continuously to repair this escape and have the road fully open as soon as we can. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
The gas supply to homes and businesses in the area will not be affected.
