Northern Gas Networks (NGN), the gas distributor for the North of England, is carrying out essential work to ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in Hook.

The ageing metal pipework is now being replaced by new, more durable plastic pipes, to ensure a safe and reliable supply of gas to customers now and in the future.

The work is expected to start on Tuesday 10 September and scheduled for completion in January 2025. It has been planned in collaboration with East Riding Council.

From Tuesday 10 September there will be three-way temporary traffic lights on High Street, at the junction of Roseacres. These will be in place for approximately 3 weeks.

From Tuesday 1 October there will be four-way temporary traffic lights on High Street, at the crossroads on Church Lane and Water Lane. These will be in place for approximately 2 weeks.

As the works progress, the temporary traffic lights will continue to move down High Street in sections, finishing at the junction near Willow Drive.

From Monday 5 January 2025, there will be three-way temporary traffic lights on Goole Road, at the junction of Balk Lane. These will be in place for approximately 2 weeks.

Advance warning signs will be displayed prior to works starting.

Craig Skinner, Operations Manager for Northern Gas Networks, said: “We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused during these essential works. However, it is vital we complete them in order to continue to maintain a safe and reliable gas supply to homes and businesses in Hook.
