We are the gas distributer for the North of England, delivering gas to 2.9 million homes and businesses in the North East, Northern Cumbria and much of Yorkshire.
We don’t generate or sell the gas. We transport it to homes and businesses in our region through a vast network of underground pipes.
In fact, we own and maintain more than 37,000km of gas pipes – enough to stretch from Leeds to Sydney and back again.
We cover large cities like Newcastle, Sunderland, Leeds, York, Hull, and Bradford. Our work also extends to rural areas like North Yorkshire and Cumbria.
We provide the region’s gas emergency service, responding rapidly to gas emergencies around the clock. We’re also replacing old gas mains with over 3,800 km of modern new ones, so the communities we serve receive a safe and reliable gas supply for generations to come.
