A message from Mark Horsley, CEO

Today we’ve published our RIIO-GD3 business plan which sets out proposals in line with guidance from the energy regulator, Ofgem, outlining what we intend to deliver for customers and the environment between 2026 and 2031.

Our plan, which has been built to deliver our vision: a fairer, greener future for the North of England and designed to ensure that every pound we spend provides value for money now and in the future, will see over £1.8 billion invested in our gas network.

It has been underpinned by a comprehensive programme of engagement with thousands of customers and stakeholders throughout our region and further afield including our brilliant Citizens Panel and Young Innovators Council.

I’m incredibly proud of our plan and I’d like to take the time to thank everyone who has taken time to share their insights and guide and inform our decision making.

What’s in our plan

Northern Gas Networks (NGN) is the most efficient gas network in Great Britain – and has been since 2005.  Our plan builds on this strong performance and sets out how we can continue to lead the way in the sector and maximise the value that we can deliver for our customers.

Our business plan is centred around six key commitments to deliver the outcomes that matter most to our customers and stakeholders – a high quality, reliable, sustainable and value for money service.

We’re pleased that 79% of informed customers and stakeholders found our plan acceptable 80% of people involved in our engagement said our plan delivers value for money.

You can read our full business plan, supporting information and shorter summary here.

We’re inviting you to dive deeper into our plans early next year by joining our webinar.  You can find out more and sign up here

What’s next?

Ofgem, will now assess our plan and make decisions about how much revenue we can have to deliver our plans.

As part of its assessment process, Ofgem is inviting people to share submissions and evidence on various aspects of our business plan.  Visit Ofgem’s website to find out more about how to get involved.

Thank you for your continued commitment and support.
