Engineers from Northern Gas Networks, the gas distributor for the north of England, are carrying out emergency gas works on the Junction of Riding Dene, Stocksfield today (Friday 12th April 2024).
Work is part of an ongoing investigation into a gas escape in the area. The Junction of Riding Dene is therefore temporarily closed on the A695, and traffic is being diverted down Station Bank.

Michael Brown, Site Manager at Northern Gas Networks said: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused to customers while we assess and carry out repairs at the junction of Riding Dene on the A695.
“We’re working to complete the project as quickly and safely as possible and thank our customers for bearing with us until the work is finished and we can reopen the road.”
