Creating a local network of energy champions
Supporting grass roots community organisations
The Centre for Sustainable Energy is a charity that helps people and organisations tackle the climate emergency and end the impact of cold homes.
By partnering with the charity, we’ve been able to reach a network of grass roots community organisations – arming them with the skills, knowledge and funding to support customers experiencing fuel poverty and financial hardship.
Partners are able to help their clients with things such as income maximation advice and energy efficiency advice, as well as making appropriate referrals for specialist support.
These local partners, with co-ordination by the Centre for Sustainable Energy, have already reached more than 6,000 people in our operating area, and unlocked more than £75,000 in customer energy savings.
Local project funding
Quaking Houses Village Hall was one of the local organisations to receive funding through the project.
They supported a woman who had left her family home, fleeing from domestic abuse with her three children.
She received help with a Universal Credit claim and Council Tax benefit, and how to receive a social tariff for electricity, gas and water.
