Creating warm and welcoming spaces

Centres for Warmth are community spaces that offer customers to opportunity to receive help, advice and companionship in a warm, safe and welcoming environment.

By satisfying customers’ immediate needs for warmth, a decent meal and a friendly face, advisors at the centres can then begin to address more complex issues such the impact of the cost-of living crisis.

We have 18 Centres for Warmth established across our network, all located in areas of high deprivation. Venues include church halls and community centres.

Funding from NGN, through the Vulnerability and Carbon Monoxide Allowance (VCMA), enables these venues and their amazing volunteers to expand the range of services they can offer people in the heart of their communities.

Our Centres for Warmth typically offer:

  • Energy advice

  • Carbon monoxide (CO) awareness information

  • Income maximisation through benefit entitlement checks and managing debt

  • Free or reduced cost food/clothing

  • Fuel top-up vouchers

  • Links to other NGN funded partner information/assistance

  • Information about the free Priority Services Register and how to sign-up

Enhancing our Centres for Warmth

We plan to open more Centres for Warmth between 2026 and 2031 and are looking at how we can enhance these spaces. This includes exploring opportunities to enable digital inclusion support services and evolving them into Centres for Future Warmth.

As a Centre for Future Warmth they will help support customers in the transition to net zero, providing education and advice so no one is left behind in this journey.
