Northern Gas Networks (NGN), the gas distributor for the North of England, is carrying out essential work to ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in Redcar.

The project will see ageing metal gas pipes replaced with new, more durable plastic pipes, helping to reduce the risk of future repairs and keep gas flowing safely and reliably to homes and businesses in the local area.

The work, which will take place on Kirkleatham Lane and Broadway East, is planned to start Monday 5 October and is expected to last for 16 weeks. This project has been planned in collaboration with Redcar and Cleveland Council.

Work Details

So that engineers can carry out the work safely and efficiently, and to protect the public,
temporary multi-way traffic signals will be in place throughout the works. Temporary traffic lights will initially be installed on Kirkleatham Lane, at the junction with Broadway East. As the work progresses, the lights will move along Broadway East towards the junction with Ennis Road.

Steven Storey, Site Manager for Northern Gas Networks, said: “We understand this work may cause some disruption and appreciate the patience of local residents and road users while it is carried out. This essential upgrade will help us continue to provide a safe and reliable gas supply to homes and businesses across Redcar.”
