Northern Gas Networks is carrying out essential works to replace ageing metal gas mains in Malton with new durable plastic pipes to ensure the continued, safe and reliable supply of gas for years to come.
The essential work is progressing well, with an estimated completion date towards the end of November.
In order to carry out the next phase of the work safely and efficiently, from Monday 21 October it will be necessary to put a road closure in place on Wentworth Street. As the work progresses, the road closure will move onto Princess Road, Newbiggin Street and Finkle Street.
Access will be maintained for shop deliveries and pedestrians, and diversion routes will be clearly marked.
Garry Farnhill, Customer Operations Area Manager, Northern Gas Networks said; “Our customer liaison officers have been door knocking in the area to inform customers about the planned work.”
Mr Farnhill added; “We would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding, and apologise in advance for any inconvenience this essential work may cause.”
Gas supplies in the area will not be affected.
If you have any questions about the works please don’t hesitate to contact the Customer Care team on 0845 634 0508, option 7. The team is available between 8am and 8pm Monday to Friday, and 9am and 5pm on Saturday.
