The North of England’s gas distributor, Northern Gas Networks (NGN), is investing more than £100k to upgrade the ageing gas distribution network in and around Thornton Lodge Road, Huddersfield.

The project is part of NGN’s ongoing development of infrastructure and will involve replacing approximately 35m of existing metal gas mains with more durable plastic pipes. This will ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in the area for years to come.

Starting on Monday (6 August), the project is scheduled to take approximately five-weeks. In order to carry out the works safely and efficiently, the following traffic management will be in place:

  • From Monday (6 August) until Sunday 9 September, Springdale Avenue will be closed at the junction of Manchester Road and Thornton Lodge Road. During this time a signed diversion route will be in place.
  • From Monday (6 August) until Sunday 12 August, temporary four-way lights will be in place at the junction of Manchester Road and Thornton Lodge Road.
  • From Monday 13 August until Sunday 2 September, there will be three-way lights at the junction of Victoria Road.

Chris Nevison, Business Operations Lead for Northern Gas Networks said: “We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused during these works, and thank our customers for their patience and support in getting them completed as quickly as possible.”

For further information about the project please contact NGN’s Customer Care Team on 0800 040 7766 or email: customercare@northerngas.co.uk.
