Important information: Potential delay to your meter installation

Between 19 May and 6 June, it may take longer than usual to arrange the meter installation with your gas supplier. This is because of an Ofgem initiative to replace the IT systems used across the UK gas market. It involves all gas suppliers and will ultimately make it easier for you to switch supplier and/or get a smart meter. You can find more information about Project Nexus on Ofgem’s website.

Upgrade to gas mains in Burnley Road, Hebden Bridge

The North of England’s gas distributer, Northern Gas Networks (NGN), is carrying out work to upgrade ageing metal gas mains in Burnley Road, Hebden Bridge.

This major project is part of NGNs’ ongoing replacement of infrastructure in the region and will involve replacing existing metal gas mains with more durable plastic pipes to ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in the area for years to come.

The project will commence on Monday 17 August at the junction of Caldene Avenue and Burnley Road and will take approximately two weeks to complete.

In order to carry out the work safely and efficiently there will be three way traffic signals placed at the junction of Caldene Avenue and Burnley Road for the duration of the works. These lights will be manually operated between the hours of 7am – 7pm to control traffic flow, and will be set to an automatic sequence outside of these hours.

Temporary bus stops will be located at the junction of Bridge End Lane and Burnley Road and pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the work.

Paul Jagger, Construction Services Area Manager, Northern Gas Networks said: “We have planned this work closely with Calderdale Council to coincide with the quieter school holiday period.

“We would like to take this opportunity to apologise in advance for any inconvenience this essential work may cause and thank members of the public for their patience and support.”
