Northern Gas Networks (NGN), the gas distributor for the North of England, is to carry out essential work in Leeds to replace the ageing metal pipework with new, more durable plastic pipes.
The gas pipe has been prioritised for replacement following previous repairs, and the work will ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in Leeds, keeping homes and businesses safe, warm and connected.
The project, which will begin on Monday 17 November, is expected to last for three weeks.
The work has been planned in collaboration with Leeds City Council and will begin on Cookridge Lane, at the junction with Tinshill Road, progressing along Otley Old Road.
So that engineers can carry out the work safely and efficiently, and to protect the public, some traffic management measures will be put in place.
Three-way traffic signals will be in place at Tinshill Road at the junction of Cookridge Lane for one week. This will then progress to two-way signals on Otley Old Road for the remainder of the work.
Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times throughout the works.
Steve Taylor, Site Manager at Northern Gas Networks, said: “We have worked closely with Leeds City Council to plan these essential works. We’d like to apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank everyone for their patience support as we work to complete this project as safely and quickly as possible.”
