Engineers from Northern Gas Networks are completing the last phase of repairs on the gas network at Durham Road/Pine Ridge Avenue in Sedgefield this afternoon (Tuesday 22nd July 2025).
In order to protect our teams and members of the public while we completed the repair, a road closure was introduced earlier today at the junction of Pine Ridge Avenue with a diversion in place for motorists.
The road has now been fully reopened.
Steve Pigott, Business Operations Lead for Northern Gas Networks said: “Our teams have made the situation safe and are now completing the final phase of the repair.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers in Sedgefield while we carried out this essential work and would like to thank everyone for their patience.”
The supply to local homes and businesses has not been affected.
Anyone who smells gas or suspects carbon monoxide should call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 immediately.
This line is in operation 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
