This National Apprenticeships Week we’re celebrating our fantastic apprentices who have recently qualified in a wide range of exciting roles across our organisation – and will be helping to shape the future of energy to prepare for the transition to net zero.
13 have qualified as a Gas Network Craftsperson, 12 are Gas Network Operatives who have recently joined the business – and all of them are already working across our network to shape the future of energy.
We’ve also welcomed three colleagues to our head office at Thorpe Park in Leeds. Lauren Ford and Charlotte Firth are based in our Commercial teams, while Emma Middleton joined our HR team after they all successfully passed their Business Administration Level 3 Apprenticeship.
Climate change is one of the biggest issues to face future generations – and an apprenticeship is a great way to be at the heart of the solution.
Our Apprenticeships & Training Manager Chris Adair said: “National Apprenticeship Week is the perfect time to celebrate every one of our 70 apprentices who truly are the future of this organisation. An apprenticeship offers so much – you get to earn while you learn, you work with experienced and inspirational people and much more – and they set you up perfectly for future success.
“All of our apprenticeships are challenging. They are designed to test your skill set, dedication, teamwork and much more.
“We’ve also got lots of other colleagues in our network and based at our various depots and offices who are part way through their apprenticeship journey, and I’d like to congratulate them too as they continue to work hard combining work and study. I look forward to them successfully completing their apprenticeships over the next few months and years.
“For the UK to reach our climate targets, it’s absolutely essential that we help people understand the many benefits of our industry and its varied career options which are rewarding professionally, personally and financially.”
The Gas Network Operatives are Ozzie Reay, James Beecroft, Sam Phelps, Kai Akrigg, Nathan Richardson, Luca Citrone, Kieran Clayton, Jake Rhodes, Christopher Shields, Erin Murphy, Kareem El-Fadl, Chukwuka Uwandu.
