Engineers from Northern Gas Networks are continuing to carry out emergency repairs on a medium pressure gas main at Burton Agnes, YO25 4NQ, after attending a gas escape on Wednesday 18th January.

In order for the repair to be carried out safely and to protect teams and members of the public, it has been necessary to close the A614 between Main Street at Harpham YO25 4NQ and Phos-n-las on Main St, Burton Agnes YO25 4NG.

A diversion has been put in place for motorists, however the road closure is likely to add significant time on to journeys between Driffield and Bridlington.

The closure will now remain in place throughout today (Thursday), in order for teams to continue the repair work safely.

Chris Keith, Business Operations Manager for Northern Gas Networks said: “We apologise for any inconvenience customers may experience while we carry out this essential repair.

“We’re working very hard to get this completed as safely and quickly as we can, and the road reopened as soon as possible.”

Anyone who smells gas should call the National Gas Emergency phone line on 0800 111 999. This line is in operation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
