Northern Gas Networks (NGN), the North of England’s gas distributor, will begin essential gas mains replacement work on Kingsway South, Gateshead from Thursday 9th May 2019 until Friday 25th September 2019.

The work has been carefully planned in collaboration with Gateshead Council to minimise disruption to customers and road users. In order for engineers to complete the work as safely and quickly as possible, it will be necessary to close the outside lane of Kingsway South in 80 meter stretches at a time. The work will be carried out between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 to minimise disruption at commute times.

Darren Pearson, Site manager at Northern Gas Networks, said “The safety of our customers and engineers is our number one priority, and closing the inside lane is essential in ensuring the public and our workforce stay safe at all times.

“We would like to thank customers for their patience at this time and apologise for any inconvenience experienced. We will keep businesses and road users updated throughout the work.”

For further information about the project please contact NGN’s Customer Care Team on 0800 040 7766 or email: customercare@northerngas.co.uk.
