The north of England’s gas distributor, Northern Gas Networks (NGN), is investing £720k to upgrade to the gas distribution network in the St Mark’s Street area of Hull.

The project, which has been ongoing since June 2018, is on track for completion on 8 March 2019.

The essential work is part of NGN’s ongoing development of infrastructure in the area and involves replacing 1992m of existing metal gas mains with more durable plastic pipes, to ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers for years to come.

To ensure the safety of our engineers and members of the public while we complete this work, it will be necessary to put in place two road closures from Monday 4 February for approximately eight weeks.

Wilton Street will be closed at the junction with Holderness Road.

Williamson Street will be closed at the junction with Holderness Road.

A signed diversion will be in place for motorists.

In addition, it may be necessary to put a temporary lane closure in place on Holderness Road for a short section near these two junctions.

All works have been planned in conjunction with Hull City Council.

Gerry Hart, Site Manager for Northern Gas Networks, said: “We would like to thank all our customers for their patience whilst we complete these essential works. We are sorry for the inconvenience the works will cause.”

For further information about the project please contact NGN’s Customer Care Team on 0800 040 7766 or email: customercare@northerngas.co.uk.
