The north of England’s gas distributer, Northern Gas Networks (NGN), is investing £60k to upgrade the ageing gas distribution network in Kirk Lane, Yeadon.

The project, which starts on January 2, 2019, will involve replacing 350m of existing metal gas mains with more durable plastic pipes, to ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in the area for years to come.

The four week project has been planned with Leeds City Council to ensure all works are completed with as little disruption as possible.

From 2nd January, Kirk Lane will be closed between New Road and Copt Royd Grove, for approximately four weeks. During this time, the only access will be for residents and deliveries, as there will be no through route. A signed diversion route will be displayed and pedestrian access will be maintained.

Engineers will be working between 8am and 5pm Monday to Friday.  Extended working hours will be applied where needed.

Josh Hampshire, Operations Manager at Northern Gas Networks said: “We have been working closely with Leeds City Council to carefully plan these works in order to minimise disruption to customers.

“We’d like to thank customers for their patience and support, and can assure everyone that we will be working hard to reopen the road as quickly as possible.”
