Engineers from Northern Gas Networks (NGN) will begin essential gas mains repair work at Tatham Street in Sunderland city centre on Wednesday 3 August.

The works will begin at 9.30am and are expected to take one week to complete.

Gas supply to customers will not be affected, however in order to carry out this essential project safely and efficiently, it will be necessary to temporarily close part of Tatham Street to traffic.

The road will be closed from the junction of Murton Street up to the junction of Borough Road for the duration of the works, and a fully signed diversion will be in place for motorists to follow.

Mick Smith, Site Manager for Northern Gas Networks said: “We will be doing all we can to minimise any disruption to customers.

“We would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any inconvenience and thank members of the public for their patience and support, and for bearing with us as we complete this essential project.”

For further information about the project contact NGN’s Customer Care Team on 0800 040 7766 or email customercare@northerngas.co.uk
