The North of England’s gas distributer, Northern Gas Networks (NGN) and specialist contractor, local engineering firm D&N Reilly are supporting Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice in Huddersfield with two special donations.
As well as transporting gas to Huddersfield, NGN transports gas to the north east of England, northern Cumbria and most of Yorkshire.

The distributer is currently carrying out a 22-week scheme to upgrade ageing metal gas mains in the Huddersfield area with modern plastic pipes, ensuring the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers for years to come.

The essential works are taking place on Lightridge Road in nearby Fixby, and began in May.
The project is registered as a Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) site and is monitored on the measures put in place to be more considerate towards local neighbourhoods and the public, the workforce, and the environment.

As part of their CCS pledges, NGN’s team of Customer Care officers have visited local community groups and schools to participate in education and charity work. Officers Amy Waites and Natalie Beal visited Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice on Fell Greave Road and learned they could make a small difference in day-to-day resources.

Donation 1

After the pair raised £250 by running the hospice’s inaugural Colour Run last month, NGN has now donated around £400 towards specialist pressure mats for overnight stays.

Construction services colleagues D&N Reilly, the local contractor which carries out work on NGN’s behalf, have contributed around £600 towards days out for the children during school holidays where extra equipment or care is required.

The contractor has also committed to filling potholes on the road outside the hospice to help improve the surface.

Corporate Fundraiser for Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice Sharon Ennis said: “On behalf of Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, we’d like to say a massive thanks for the help NGN and D&N Reilly have given us. It’s only with wonderful supporters like this that we are able to help create memories for the children and their families.’’

NGN’s Customer Care officer Amy Waites said: “Our customers are extremely important to us, so we were delighted to be able to help Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice in this way and support the fantastic work they do for families.”
