The north of England’s gas distributer, Northern Gas Networks, is upgrading ageing metallic gas mains in Low Etherly, Bishop Auckland with new plastic pipes to ensure the safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in the area for years to come.
The project, which is part of Northern Gas Network’s ongoing development of infrastructure across the North of England is scheduled to commence on Wednesday 18 March 2015 and is expected to take five weeks to complete.
In order to carry out this work safely and efficiently it will be necessary to install temporary two way traffic lights on the B6282 opposite the junction of Red Houses, which will move towards Rudland Way as the work progresses.
Gordon Thompson, Customer Operations Area Manager, Northern Gas Networks said: “We have been working closely with the local council to carefully plan these works and will be doing all we can to complete the work as quickly as possible with minimal disruption.
“We would like to take this opportunity to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused and thank members of the public for their patience and support.”
Customer Care Officers have been door knocking residents and businesses in the area to let them know about the work.
