Important information: Potential delay to your meter installation

Between 19 May and 6 June, it may take longer than usual to arrange the meter installation with your gas supplier. This is because of an Ofgem initiative to replace the IT systems used across the UK gas market. It involves all gas suppliers and will ultimately make it easier for you to switch supplier and/or get a smart meter. You can find more information about Project Nexus on Ofgem’s website.

Tackling fuel poverty

getting gas back on

Our region has one of the highest levels of fuel poverty in England, with an estimated 24% of households spending more than 10% of their income on heating.

We’re helping to cut fuel poverty by connecting thousands of households to our gas network, free of charge, and by working in partnership to help get homes wrapped up with better insulation and new, fuel efficient heating systems, along with benefits advice and tips on reducing bills.

We also run an annual hardship fund to help customers who are really struggling to pay their bills, and fund a benefits health check scheme to ensure customers aren’t missing out on vital financial assistance from the state.

This comprehensive approach is helping thousands of households to stay warm for less, while reducing the region’s carbon emissions.

You can find more information on free or discounted gas connections here.
