Important information: Potential delay to your meter installation

Between 19 May and 6 June, it may take longer than usual to arrange the meter installation with your gas supplier. This is because of an Ofgem initiative to replace the IT systems used across the UK gas market. It involves all gas suppliers and will ultimately make it easier for you to switch supplier and/or get a smart meter. You can find more information about Project Nexus on Ofgem’s website.

Helping local businesses

Over the next eight years, we’ll be investing more than £1 billion to upgrade the region’s gas network. We want as much of this investment as possible to stay within local communities – generating wealth and jobs.

That’s why we’re training local engineering businesses to work with us.

Small engineering firms, often family run, are being given the chance to dig deep to replace the region’s ageing gas mains. They are given full training, expert supervision, and a guarantee of work.

Handing contracts to small businesses, and training them to meet our exacting standards, means investment stays in the local area and businesses are given a new income stream and vital transferable skills.

We are also run a thriving apprentice programme  to give local people a flying start in our industry.
