Gas Supply Problem, Marsden, Huddersfield

Around 2,000 gas users have lost their supply in Marsden, Huddersfield.

This follows a fracture to a gas main in Chain Road on Saturday.

Repairs to the main were completed by 10.30pm on Saturday evening. Since then engineers have been working to return the mains network to its normal working condition before they can begin to restore supplies to domestic and business users.

Safety is the top priority at all times.

Northern Gas Networks apologises to anyone who has been inconvenienced as a result of the supply interruption.

More than 2,000 electric fan heaters and 600 electric hotplates have been issued to local people.

Anyone who still requires these temporary appliances should call at the Parochial Church Hall, off Towngate, to collect them.
If you or a relative or neighbour are unable to call there in person should contact the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 and arrangements will be made to make a delivery.

Engineers began to restore gas supplies from around 8am on Monday, 6th March. Restoration will be carried out in a carefully planned and phased method, by splitting the area into six zones. Starting with the centre of Marsden, engineers will work their way outward until all supplies have been restored. This may take several days to complete. Your gas supply can only be reconnected after an engineer has visited your property to carry out essential safety checks.

Anyone with queries should:
Visit the Parochial Church Hall, off Towngate, to see an engineering manager;
Call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999' or
Contact Northern Gas Networks via the website (www.northerngas.,co.uk).

Inquiries about compensation should be directed to your gas supplier, whose details will be on your last bill.
