Green grant for Osgodby

Environmental volunteers from Osgodby, near Scarborough, have been given a welcome boost from Northern Gas Networks, the region’s gas pipeline provider.

The Osgodby in Bloom Group have won a £300 Northern Green Networks grant to help them create a new wildlife pond and plant up some colourful spring bulbs on the approach road into the village.
They are one of 17 groups from across the region to win a Northern Green Networks grant, an environmental scheme operated for the past four years by Northern Gas Networks.

Rodger Pledger from the group said: "We are delighted with the award and have already put the money to good use putting in some spring plants. We’ve got a busy spring ahead of us creating the new wildlife pond area, which we hope will be enjoyed by people in Osgodby for years to come.”
The cash grant, along with the winner’s trophy were presented by Deborah Yewdall from Northern Gas Networks.

She said: "Northern Green Networks was designed to support grass roots environmental action across our region. Creating the wildlife pond and planting spring flowers around the village is certainly an initiative which we were keen to support.”
