Essential Gas Works for Darlington Lane, Stockton

Northern Gas Networks is advising people to leave a little extra time for journeys in the Darlington Lane area of Stockton while essential gas works are carried out.

Engineers from United Utilities, working on behalf of the area’s gas pipeline owner, need to work on a gas main at the junctions of Darlington Lane, Rochester Road and Ravenscar Avenue.

The junction will be closed from 6.30pm on Monday (2nd August) and will not re-open until Wednesday (4th August) around lunchtime.

Signed diversion will be in place and all bus services have been re-routed while the work takes place. Bus-users are advised to check with the relevant bus company before travelling.

Northern Gas Networks and United Utilities would like to apologise for any inconvenience and will seek to minimise disruption wherever possible while this essential work is completed.

United Utilities’ Gwen Evans said: “We know that no-one likes to be faced with road-works especially when they affect a busy junction like this but the work is vital and unfortunately there are no shot-cuts when it comes to gas safety.”
