The Gas distributor for the North of England

Ben Has All the Right Gas Connections

A senior manager in the gas business has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Scottish Section of the Institute of Gas Engineers and Managers (IGEM).

Falkirk born Ben Clarke, 30, the Enquiries & Quotation Manager at United Utilities Gas Connections in Gorgie Road, Edinburgh has worked in the gas industry since 2001 when he was recruited as a graduate engineer. A period working in electrical and instrumentation projects for Scotia Gas Networks followed which led to his present role within United Utilities. Ben was nominated for the role of Chairman after successfully serving on the IGEM section committee after winning their national Young Persons competition in 2005.

“I’m really excited about taking on this position,” said Ben. “As a professional it allows me to extend my knowledge and understanding of the wider gas industry.”

Ben hopes to build stronger links with gas technicians as well as the upstream industry in Aberdeen. He believes that this will encourage a wider perspective of the industry as a whole and allow the institute to become a voice for all gas professionals and not just the traditional gas transmission and distribution elements.
