The Gas distributor for the North of England

Beauty Queen's Network of Admirers

From personal protective clothing to swimsuits and customer enquiries to the catwalk it’s all in a days work for United Utilities Customer Service Advisor Hannah Christie.

Working from the company’s Doxford Park offices in Sunderland, Hannah provides excellent customer service to the gas company’s 2.5 million householders and businesses and her good looks and personality have earned her a place in the finals of the Miss Sunderland competition.

Personally sponsored by Northern Gas Networks, who own the region’s 37,000 km of gas pipeline, Hannah is hoping that the competition will help her to reach the Miss England finals which will ultimately lead to the chance for her to become Miss World.

The winner will also receive other prizes including a modelling contract, gym membership and even teeth whitening sessions.

As part of Northern Gas Network’s sponsorship, Hannah has to raise money for the competition’s chosen charities which this year are Help for Heroes and Sunderland based children’s hospice, Grace House. Already she has entered into the fund raising spirit by making bacon sandwiches for her colleagues and helping to run a cake sale in the office. She also plans to tackle a 10 mile bike ride too and to date; she has raised a beautiful £150.00.

“It’s been great fun raising money for such good causes,” said Hannah. “The support from everyone at work and home has been fantastic.”

One fan of Hannah is United Utilities’ Health, Safety and Environment manager Peter Christie who is also her father. “It’s great that Hannah has done so well in the competition so far. I’m very proud of her and we are all right behind her,” he said.

Hannah is getting plenty of support from her colleagues both within the office and from the teams looking after the network’s gas supply. Recently, Hannah experienced time with Sunderland based engineer Stuart Alderson who showed her how to operate a Cable Avoidance Tool (CAT). From the CAT to the catwalk, Hannah is really looking forward to the final.

“This is a fantastic experience for me and also a really good way to raise much needed funds for two deserving charities. I am really proud to represent Northern Gas Networks in the final,” she said.
