Chris Gorman

Chris Gorman is Network Operations Director with Northern Gas Networks Limited. Previously he was Head of Network in National Grid Transco's North of England Network until it was purchased by the new owners on 1st June, 2005.

He has more than 36 years experience in the gas industry; working firstly at the British Gas engineering research station in the North East before moving to the British Gas Northern, one of 12 business units operated on a geographic basis. Here, and subsequently, in Transco and National Grid Transco, he has held a number of senior managerial positions including asset manager and asset safety and environment manager.

Mr Gorman has a wide range of experience from his earlier career in the power generation business and covering gas industry compliance work, design and build projects from concept to commission both for power stations and gas plant, and 30 years experience in all aspects of gas transmission, distribution and storage activities.

Mr Gorman is a chartered engineer, a Member of the Institution of Incorporated Engineers, a member of the Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers, and sits on their academic and membership panels.
