Michael Ashworth
Mike Ashworth is Legal Director and Company Secretary of Northern Gas Networks Limited.
He holds a Batchelor of Law degree, is a practising solicitor and a member of the Law Society. Mr Ashworth joined Northern Gas Networks from National Grid plc, where he was UK Deputy General Counsel, before which he was Deputy General Counsel of Lattice plc, the owner of the Transco gas business.
Mr Ashworth has worked at the forefront of the development of the legal and regulatory regime associated with the liberalisation of the gas industry in the UK since the early 1990s. This includes all major changes in the industry - company mergers and demergers, price control reviews and the introduction of the operating and contractual regime in gas transportation and supply, and the creation and subsequent development of the Network Code.
