Northern Gas Networks has an essential role to play in the daily heartbeat of the region. Normally our services are seamless and invisible. Consumers turn on their heating and cooking appliances and have instant access to gas. It’s taken for granted. And that’s the way we like it. Interruptions to your gas supply are few and far between. We work hard to keep it that way, investing millions of pounds each and every year in the pipeline network to keep it in prime working condition.
It’s inevitable that when we have to replace or repair parts of our infrastructure it causes some inconvenience to local people. We work closely with local authorities to ensure any inconvenience is kept to the minimum level and return the streets and pathways to their normal condition as quickly as possible.
Safety is at the heart of everything we do. We take that responsibility extremely seriously and there’s nothing we will do to compromise the safety of gas users, our own employees and contractors, and the people affected by our work. We are responsible for providing the 24-hour gas emergency service, responding quickly to reported gas escapes across the region, whenever and wherever they are made.
We plan to work in partnership with the region's communities and its grassroots organisations, to forge closer links, delivering meaningful benefits. We will also support our employees who are actively involved in their communities.
We are one of the largest businesses in the region and have a contribution to make at local, regional and national levels. We will have an outward looking approach to the region and will engage fully with the communities we serve and demonstrate we are a responsible corporate citizen.
