Northern Gas Networks Limited is responsible for ensuring compliance with all Regulations, Policies & Procedures relating to Pressure Systems and associated Plant and Equipment.
The Network Integrity team deliver compliance by ensuring all aspects relating to these requirements are met. This includes liaison with the relevant statutory bodies, for instance the Health and Safety Executive, Local Authorities, etc. in relation to such topics as:
Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000 (PSSR)
Relating to gas systems >2bar. This includes issuing, monitoring & recording inspections, modifications & repair procedures (G17)
Pipeline Safety Regulations 1996 (PSR)
Ensuring pipelines are designed, constructed, operated, maintained and de-commissioned safely; management of Major Accident Hazard Pipelines (MAHP) and notifications to the HSE.
Control Of Major Accident Hazards 1999 (COMAH)
COMAH applies to Northern Gas Networks when specified quantities of stored natural gas are present, the quantity defines the category under these regulations (Top Tier or Low Tier); production of Emergency Plans, Emergency Plan Testing, Compliance Audit Program and Major Accident Prevention Policy (MAPP).

The Factories Act 1961, which includes the requirements for inspection of low pressure gasholders
MAINT99 sets out Northern Gas Networks' Policy for maintenance on all plant and equipment, and how it complies with all statutory requirements and regulations.
