Gas workers went back to school to give youngsters near Filey a lesson in road works safety.
Staff from gas firm United Utilities took a break from building a new £418,000 gas pipeline to give kids at Cayton Primary School tips on staying safe during the school holidays.
The company is installing a 2km long 250mmm pipeline through Cayton on behalf of the region’s pipeline firm Northern Gas Networks. The four month project will run throughout the school half term and is vital to meet the area’s booming demand for gas.
United Utilities’ customer liaison officer Amanda White said: “We want to make sure children understand that road works are just like building sites and need to be treated with respect. Playing near them or tinkering with equipment like barriers, pipes and signs can put them and other people at risk and we want to make sure no-one gets hurt.”
