St Stephens Primary School in West Bowling received the award from the Northern Green Networks scheme, operated by gas pipeline operator Northern Gas Networks.
The scheme is distributing £50,000 to schools and organisations across northern England to fund local green projects.
St Stephens has used its cash to fund a new area in the school grounds, linking two previous disconnected areas, building secure fencing, seating, walkways and willow tunnels. The new area is already proving a big hit with staff, pupils and parents.
The cheque was hand-delivered by Dave Hutchison, Head of Health, Safety and Environment at the gas company.
"Northern Green Networks is our way of helping grassroots organisations such as St Stephens fund projects that otherwise may never happen," said Mr Hutchison. "This is just one of five schemes we are funding in the Bradford area, which are among the total of 17 across northern England which the judges selected to share the total awards budget."
"This is the first year of the awards, which are now established in our calendar. There were 120 quality entrants first time around and we are confident that the scheme will grow and grow," added Mr Hutchison.
