United Utilities gas engineers are making good progress with gas mains improvement work in Halifax Road, Brighouse.
Work began at the end of January to replace 80-year-old gas mains with brand new plastic pipe.
United Utilities runs the gas pipeline in Yorkshire on behalf of Northern Gas Networks which is investing £150,000 in the scheme.
Engineers are on schedule to complete the work by the end of March.
The first stage of work is now complete in Halifax Road (between Garden Road and Waterloo Road) and Garden Road has now reopened for traffic.
Engineers are now working in the section of Halifax Road between Waterloo Road and Elland Road.
Mark Chapman, United Utilities engineering and design manager, said: “The gas pipes in this area date to the 1920s and need to be replaced. We have been pleased with progress so far and thank residents and motorists for bearing with us while we continue our work.”
United Utilities is working closely with highways officials from Calderdale Council and the emergency services throughout the duration of the scheme.
