Northern Gas Networks aims to recover those costs that it reasonably expects to incur when it provides connection services. The price to you will reflect the cost of labour, materials, and any other expenses required to carry out the work to your requirements. Standard prices apply to the majority of domestic connections. You can find details of these prices and check whether a standard price will apply to you in our Connection Charges Statement.  Connection charges are being revised with effect from 26 August 2008.  Further details can be found by downloading the Notice of Revised Connection Charges.

Where a standard price does not apply then a bespoke quotation will be provided to you. The methodology we apply to calculating connection prices can be found by downloading the 4b Statement.

Northern Gas Networks and our agents operate to a comprehensive set of customer service standards. We work to ensure the correct pipe is safely installed in the ground, at the agreed time, to the accepted quality and specification in the most cost-effective way. Northern Gas Networks' response to Ofgem investigation

Northern Gas Networks has received notification from Ofgem that it has concluded its investigation into the company's gas connections business in the year to 31st March, 2007, and is proposing a fine of £25,000.

Northern Gas Networks worked closely with Ofgem during its investigation.

The company recognises that its delivery of connections activities for the year to 31 March, 2007, fell short of the required standard, with a consequential effect on the time in which customer complaints were resolved. The problems experienced were of a temporary nature following a change of contractor.

Northern Gas Networks kept Ofgem fully informed at the time, and the Regulator has recognised this. The Regulator has also acknowledged that the company did not attempt to conceal the issue and that it reported and discussed its failures promptly and co-operated fully with Ofgem’s investigation. It recognised that significant levels of compensation had been paid to those customers who were affected.

These problems have been resolved.

Northern Gas Networks has exceeded the required standards for connections and all other work during the current regulatory year. We expect to continue to exceed these standards on a continuing basis.

We would like to apologise to any customer who was affected by our failure in the connections element of our business earlier this year.
