The Gas distributer for the North of England

Crosshills Progress

Engineers have now laid 200 metres of new pipe as they continue to replace a 70-year-old gas main in the Cross Hills area of Keighley.

Northern Gas Networks is investing £110,000 in the scheme.

On November 13 engineers began work in Holme Lane and Main Street to lay 400 metres of new plastic pipe.

Mark Chapman United Utilities engineering and design manager said: “We want to thank traders for continuing to be patient with us while we carry out this essential work.

“The scheme is taking a little longer than envisaged to complete and we apologise for the inconvenience. The good news is that we’ve now got around 200 metres of the new pipe in so we are making progress.”

The scheme will close down for Christmas on December 22. There will be no traffic lights in Main Street at this time and the road will reopen as normal until January 2 when work will restart on site.
