Important information: Potential delay to your meter installation

Between 19 May and 6 June, it may take longer than usual to arrange the meter installation with your gas supplier. This is because of an Ofgem initiative to replace the IT systems used across the UK gas market. It involves all gas suppliers and will ultimately make it easier for you to switch supplier and/or get a smart meter. You can find more information about Project Nexus on Ofgem’s website.

Essential repair work: Durham Road, Stockton-on-Tees

Engineers from Northern Gas Networks are continuing repair work this evening to a gas main on Durham Road (A177) near North Tees General Hospital in Stockton-on-Tees.

The work has required a road closure on a stretch of Durham Road from the roundabout at Harrowgate Lane/Junction Road to Redhill Road/Hardwick Road, while engineers repair a leak.The hospital can still be accessed, but those approaching from the Harrowgate Lane end will need to follow a diversion route.

A spokesperson from Northern Gas Networks said: “Our engineers are continuing work this evening on this essential repair. We’d like to apologise to motorists for any inconvenience.

“Anyone who smells gas should call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999.”
