A £98,000 project to replace ageing metal gas mains in Westgate, Cleckheaton will reach completion at the end of next week.
The new durable plastic gas pipes have now been laid and our reinstatement team is working hard to replace the road surface as quickly as possible.

The road closure and diversion on Westgate will be removed on the evening of Monday, 12 August. Temporary traffic lights will be in place to manage the flow of traffic from Tuesday, 13 August.

The road closure on Crown Street and the reversal of traffic on Cross Crown Street will remain in place, with four-way temporary traffic lights at the junction of Westgate and Hightown Road. These traffic lights will be manned between 7am and 7pm.

The project will be completed in its entirety by Friday, 16 August, with all traffic management systems and road closures removed and all sites cleared of safety barriers and equipment.

The bus service will return to normal from Tuesday, 13 August.

Wayne Fisher, Northern Gas Networks’ Customer Operations Area Manager for Pennines said; “We would like to thank business owners, residents and members of the public for the patience and understanding they have shown throughout these essential works.”
