The north of England’s gas distributer, Northern Gas Networks (NGN), is investing £300,000 to upgrade the ageing gas distribution network in Sigston Road, Beverley.

The major project is part of NGN’s ongoing development of infrastructure in the area and will involve replacing 3km of existing metal gas mains with more durable plastic pipes, to ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in the area for years to come.

The project, which began on Monday 20 June and will last around 11 weeks, has been planned in conjunction with East Riding of Yorkshire Council to ensure all works are completed with as little disruption to customers as possible.

No road closures or traffic management will be necessary and work will be carried out in the following phases:

Phase One will commence on Monday 20 June at Crosskill Close and Sigston Road and last around one week.

Phase Two will begin on Monday 27 June at Storkhill Road and Sigston Road and last approximately one week.

Phase Three starts on Monday 4 July at Sigston Road and is expected to take one week to complete.

Phase Four begins on Monday 11 July on Sigston Road and Kilvin Drive, lasting one week.

Phase Five will take place on Goodfell Road, Hull Bridge Road and the corner of Maple Drive from Monday 18 July, lasting for one week.

Phase Six begins on Monday 25 July on Brookland Close, Sigston Road and Coltman Avenue, also lasting one week.

Phase Seven takes place on Sigston Road and Coltman Avenue, from Monday 1 August, and is expected to last for one week.

Phase Eight begins on Monday 8 August on Sigston Road and Crowther Close, taking a week to complete.

Phase Nine commences on Monday 15 August on Sigston Road, and will last for one week.

Phase Ten starts on Monday 22 August on Sigston Road, Coltman Avenue and Wray Close, lasting for one week.

The final phase, Phase 11, will take place the week beginning Monday 27 August and is expected to be complete after one week.

Engineers will be working from Monday to Friday between 8am and 5pm. During the project it will be necessary to close some footpaths however these will be clearly signed and alternative walkways and diversions will be provided for all pedestrians.

Robert Hope, Construction Services Area Manager for Northern Gas Networks said: “We have been working closely with East Riding of Yorkshire Council to carefully plan these works in order to minimise disruption to customers.

“We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused during the project, and thank our customers for their patience and support in getting these works completed as quickly as possible.”
