Northern Gas Networks is investing £75,000 to upgrade the ageing gas distribution network in Rothwell, Leeds.
The major project is part of NGN’s ongoing development of infrastructure across the north of England and will involve replacing approximately 470m of ageing metal gas mains with more durable plastic pipes to ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to our customers in the area for years to come.
The six week long project, which will commence on Swithens Street, begins on Monday 5th January 2015 and will be carried out in several phases to help minimise disruption.
In order to carry out this work safely and efficiently, it will be necessary to close a number of roads throughout the project.
Planned road closures and traffic management measures:
Road closure at the junction of Swithens Street with Marsh Street – 09/01/2015 (3 weeks)
Road closure at the junction of Smithson Street with Marsh Street – 17/01/2015 (3 weeks)
Pelican crossing closure and 2 way lights on Marsh Street – 17/01/2015- (3 weeks)
Road closure at the junction of Royds Lane with Marsh Street – 25/01/2015 (3 weeks)
