Important information: Potential delay to your meter installation

Between 19 May and 6 June, it may take longer than usual to arrange the meter installation with your gas supplier. This is because of an Ofgem initiative to replace the IT systems used across the UK gas market. It involves all gas suppliers and will ultimately make it easier for you to switch supplier and/or get a smart meter. You can find more information about Project Nexus on Ofgem’s website.

Essential Repair Work on the A1 North and South at Catterick Garrison

Engineers from Northern Gas Networks will be carrying out essential repair work on a gas main on the A1 (near Catterick Garrison, North Yorkshire) this morning (Monday 23 December).

In order to carry out this work safely and efficiently, it will be necessary to close a quarter mile stretch of the A1 both North and South bound from 5.00am. This will impact both outside lanes.

Richard Hynes Cooper, Customer Operations Area Manager, Northern Gas Networks, said: “We have received a number of reports about the smell of gas in this area and it is necessary for us to investigate further. I would like to apologise to members of the public for any inconvenience caused whilst this essential maintenance work is carried out.”
