The north of England’s gas distributer, Northern Gas Networks (NGN), is upgrading the ageing gas distribution network at Ormesby Road, Middlesbrough.

The project is part of NGN’s ongoing development of infrastructure in the area and involves reinforcement work to the gas network to maintain pressure during the winter months. This is to ensure the continued, safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in the area for years to come.

The scheme, which will begin the week commencing Monday 19 September, has been planned in conjunction with Middlesbrough Council to ensure all works are completed with as little disruption as possible.

In order to carry out the work safely and efficiently, some traffic management will be necessary.

Temporary lights will be placed at the junction of Ormesby Road and Longlands Road, manned between 8am and 7pm to ensure the smooth flow of traffic.

The work is expected to take around two weeks to complete and NGN Customer Care officers have doorknocked local residents and businesses to make them aware of the project.

Neil Smith, Site Manager for Northern Gas Networks said: “We have been working closely with Middlesbrough Council to carefully plan this essential project and are doing all we can to minimise any disruption to customers.

“We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused and thank our customers for their patience and support in getting these works completed as quickly as possible.”
