The north of England’s gas distributer, Northern Gas Networks (NGN), is investing £130,000 to upgrade the ageing gas distribution network in Keighley Road near the village of Bradley.

The major project is part of NGN’s ongoing development of infrastructure in the area and will involve replacing 640m of existing metal gas mains with more durable plastic pipes, to ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in the area for years to come.

The project, which will begin on Thursday 18  August and last approximately eight weeks with an estimated completion date of Saturday 15 October, has been planned in conjunction with North Yorkshire County Council to ensure all works are completed with as little disruption as possible.

In order to complete the works as safely and efficiently as possible, it will be necessary to install two-way temporary traffic lights on Keighley Road at the junction of Ings Lane from Monday 26th September to Saturday 15th October.  To minimise disruption to members of the public the lights will be in place between the hours of 7pm until 6am and will be manned in order to ease traffic flow. Keighley Road will be temporarily backfilled during the day to allow traffic to pass as normal.

Engineers will be working from 8am to 4pm five days a week at all other times.

All bus services will run as usual, however there may be some delays.  Bus companies will be advised of the work in advance and pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

Ian Cunningham, Construction Services Area Manager for Northern Gas Networks said: “We have been working closely with North Yorkshire County Council to carefully plan these works in order to minimise any disruption to customers.

“We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused and thank our customers for their patience and support in getting them completed as quickly as possible.”
