Northern Gas Networks would like to thank residents and businesses in Wakefield Road, Huddersfield for their understanding and cooperation after essential repairs were carried out on a corroded metal gas main in the area yesterday.
A team of engineers from Northern Gas Networks worked non-stop through the night to repair the gas main as quickly as possible, and door knocked customers in the afternoon/early evening to keep them informed about the situation.
The gas supply to our customers in the area was not affected.
Essential safety checks have now been carried out and Wakefield Road was re-opened at 5.00am this morning.
One lane on Wakefield Road (heading out of Huddersfield) remains closed to traffic whilst our team of engineers carry out further tests on the gas main. We will keep customers informed should any further work need to be carried out.
